Dear Fellow STL Recovery Member,
Since you’ve arrived at this page, we probably have met. I’m Jim Murphy, a person in long term recovery in St. Louis, MO. We’re working to bring an organization to St. Louis designed to bring a physical component to join the emotional and spiritual component to recovering people in the St. Louis area. It’s called The Phoenix.
The Phoenix is a non-profit based in Denver. Their motto is “Together We Rise.” Through a myriad of activities (yoga, meditation, CrossFit, HIIT, biking, running, hiking) The Phoenix brings a physical fitness component to everyone’s recovery journey. When combined with emotional and chemical sobriety, a new whole person rises.
There are 44 locations in 26 cities, serving more than 38,000 recovering people. While The Phoenix has a strategic plan to open new locations throughout North America, St. Louis isn’t in their immediate plans. My goal is to demonstrate that there is an active recovery community in St. Louis that would welcome an opportunity to support an organization like The Phoenix.
Did I mention that participation in all Phoenix activities is Free? That’s right, Free. No cost, NADA, zilch. The cost of membership is 48 hours of sobriety!
Here’s my request. In order to demonstrate that St. Louis should be one of the next cities to have a Phoenix location, please add your name and contact information to our list. Also, click the types of activities that interest you (click all you currently do, or would like to do. No limit!) Once we have a list, mid to late January, 2021, I’ll set up a Zoom meeting to discuss further where we are in the process.
So, please check out thephoenix.org (especially the About section which outlines how, why The Phoenix was established, as well as the Board of Directors.) Also, feel free to sign up for the two introductory on-line tutorials about the program. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can to get the ball rolling in St. Louis.

The Phoenix’s mission is to build a sober active community that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that together we rise, recover, and live.
